We have now released the latest phase of our listings suite development project, Multi-Channel Listings! This feature allows you to list to eBay, Amazon and your webstore at the same time! No more separate listing processes and individual listing profiles - save time by doing it in one go!
Add The Listings Module
Before you can start feeling the benefits of multi-channel listing, depending on which level package you subscribe to, you may need to enable the Listings Module on your ChannelGrabber account by adding it to your subscription. If you are on a lower level package, such as Sales Booster, this costs £50 per month to add the listing module to your subscription. On the higher level subscriptions such as Growth Accelerator, it is included in the price of your subscription.
If you need to add the Listings module, please email sales@channelgrabber.com and the Sales Team will be able to assist.
If you are in the middle of your monthly billing cycle, you will be billed pro-rata for the listings module for the remainder of the first month, then at the full monthly fee moving forward on your usual billing date.
eBay Default Listing Settings
To make listing to eBay easier (and quicker) you can pre-set a selection of listing settings in ChannelGrabber to save having to enter these fields on every new eBay listing that you want to create.
Navigate to Settings > Sales Channels > eBay and click the Manage button for eBay:
Beneath the general account preferences you will find the Default Listing Settings section:
Simply complete these and then click the Save button at the bottom of the page and you're ready to go!
Category Templates
The major key to this feature is the new Category Templates option, so let's talk about that first. It's now possible to set up rules in ChannelGrabber to "map" your own categories to those of your channels, meaning you can then choose one category in the ChannelGrabber listing tool, and the system will automatically know which category that translates to on every channel that you want to list to, therefore speeding up the listing process.
Setting up your Category Templates
First please navigate to Settings > Product Management > Category Templates
Here you can create your own category names (seriously, they can be whatever you want! Go nuts!) and then map them to the relevant categories on each of the channels that you want to list t.
Handy hint:
The green "refresh" arrow next to each marketplace will update the list of categories in ChannelGrabber to match your current set of categories on each marketplace, so if you've recently made changes on your channels, just refresh the list in CG first ;)
Enter your category name first, then simply click the drop-down menus for each of your channels to choose which of the marketplace categories to link back to your own category name. If the main category that you choose has further sub-categories, then these will load for you to choose from as well:
When you're finished, click the Save button and you're all done.
You can choose whether you want to sit and do a whole bunch of these at once prior to creating your listings, or you can also add these ad-hoc from within the listing tool itself as you go along (see instructions below) and they will then appear in this settings page for your reference, so whatever your preference, this can fit neatly into your listing process, and the more you complete, the more time you will save moving forward.
Multi-Channel Listings
Ready to start listing quicker than ever before? Awesome, let's get listing!
1. Navigate to your main Products page:
2. Browse your inventory list or use the Search bar to find the item you want to list, or create a new single product or create a new variation product from scratch, then click the Add Listing + button:
3. A new interface will pop up to allow you to choose which of your connected marketplaces you would like to list to - simply click the logo (as many as you wish at once) to select them. Hint: they change from greyed out to full colour once selected:
4. Next select the Category if you have previously set up category templates (as per the instructions in this guide above):
OR click the Add New button to create a category template on the fly:
Once you've set your category, click the Next button to continue:
Listing to eBay using their Product-Based Shopping Experience (PBSE)
You will find this option at the top of the listing tool when at least one eBay account is selected to list to. It allows you to search for your product from amongst eBay's existing catalogued products:
Simply enter the item name or a product identifier such as the barcode (EAN, UPC, ISBN) and click Search and you will be presented with a list of any items from eBay's catalogue that match your search terms:
When you have found the specific item you want to sync your listing up with, click on the Assign to drop-down section and select which SKU you want to link that specific item to then click the Next button:
You can then add any additional information such as your business policies etc. as per the following steps.
Listing a New Product
You can now complete any missing information fields for the product to add the details that each channel requires. The fields you see will vary depending on which channels you have selected to list to, so you may not see all of the fields below, if they are not needed to list to your desired channel:
Listing Title
This will be pre-populated with whatever title has previously been imported or entered, but you can edit it if you wish to add more keywords etc.
Description
Enter a plain-text description for the product to clearly describe the item for your customers.
Top Tips for Descriptions: If you'd like some advice, why not check out our blog post on How To Write Product Descriptions That Sell Like Crazy
If you would like to apply a HTML template to your descriptions for eBay, or even just set a default font, size, colour etc. then please check out our guide on eBay Listing Templates
Brand
We recommend to always complete the Brand field (even if you don't know the brand or the item doesn't have one, you can enter something like "Unbranded" or your own company brand rather than leaving it blank)
Item Condition
Choose from a pre-populated list of condition options to select the one that best describes your item eg. New, Refurbished etc.
Images
Select from the previously imported images for your product to choose which images are submitted on the new listing (tip: once the image is outlined in green it is selected)
Listing Template
Once you have added your eBay HTML Template(s) to ChannelGrabber (see our guide on eBay Listing Templates) you can select which template you want us to apply to the description when we submit to ebay from this drop-down menu.
Dispatch Time Max
The number of days that you will commit to dispatch any orders for this product within (if you want to commit to same day dispatch then set this to zero)
Condition Note
Allows you to add additional notes about the condition of the product being sold, in addition to the main Item Condition field above. This is particularly important if you are selling an item that is not New.
Bullet Points (Amazon)
Enter your first bullet point (these appear at the top of the Amazon listing near the title and image so they are prominent on the listing!) and then click the Add bullet button to add up to 4 additional bullet points
Search Terms (Amazon)
These do not appear on your customer-facing listing, but they work in the background of Amazon to help your listings show up in results from relevant searches on Amazon, so think of these as "Amazon SEO" to help your listing to be found more often.
ebay-Specific Fields
Business Policies: Payment Policy, Return Policy, Shipping Policy
The first time you access the listing tool, simply click the green "Refresh" arrow and we will import your business policies that are already set up on ebay. If you have not yet enabled/managed your business policies, check out ebay's own article on this here: ebay Business Policies
Once your ebay Business Policies are imported, simply select which ones you want to apply to this listing from each drop-down menu.
Listing Duration
Choose the duration for how long your listing will be live on eBay.
Important Note:
We strongly recommend that you use Good til Cancelled (GTC) as your default Listing Duration, as this is eBay's preferred listing duration, and GTC will also allow ChannelGrabber to re-list items as they are added back into stock, and will prevent the need for you to re-list your products every 30 days, so it's just all round more efficient. It's also important if you utilise ebay's "Out-of-Stock option" which keeps your listing live on ebay even if you run out of stock, which protects your sales history.
ebay Item Specifics (Optional)
For ebay, you can choose to add on additional item specifics which will be chosen based on the ebay category that you have mapped to (such as Brand, Platform etc.)
Amazon-Specific Fields
Subcategory
In addition to your main Amazon category which has already been set by your Category Template, if you want to add a secondary category for your item you can do so in the Subcategory field(s)
Product Type
Allows you to add further details to your Amazon listing. Selecting a Product Type will then enable further item specific fields.
Amazon Item Specifics
In the example screen-shot above the Product Type "Video Games" has then enabled relevant item specifics fields such as "Console Video Games Genre" and "Hardware Platform" but these will vary based on the Product Type you select.
You will also be able to add further Optional Item Specifics as desired.
Product Identifiers (EAN / UPC / MPN / ISBN)
Enter the relevant product identifier for the product (you usually only need one of the four).
Important Note:
If your products do not already have barcodes, then it may be necessary for you to purchase your own registered company barcodes (see our guide on Obtaining Barcodes (GTINs) for Listing New Products).
If you do not have a barcode and one is not required for the category you are listing to, then you can tick the "Does not apply" check box at the end of the row to skip this step.
Dimensions
To make shipping the item more efficient, you can enter the product weight (in KG) and dimensions (in CM)
Price
Enter the price that you would like to sell the item for (this can be different on each channel if you wish)
Before you submit the listing, the Creation Status section will show you a summary of the listings that will be created, the category they will be mapped to and whether they have been submitted yet, plus the response from the individual marketplaces once they have been submitted.
When you're ready, go ahead and click the Submit button, and ChannelGrabber will submit listings to all of your selected channels - champion! :)
If there is a problem or one of the channels rejects the listing and provides an error message, we will display that for you so that you can correct the problem and try again.
Once the listing goes live on the channels, you can then import it back into ChannelGrabber to get the stock managed (see our guide on How to Import Products into ChannelGrabber if you're unsure how to achieve this).
And BOOM! You're all set!
