Shipping Rules are automated shipping profiles in Cloud Commerce Pro that make decisions based on your business rules to decide which courier and which service you will send a consignment with.

Each time an order is fed in from one of your channels, CCP tries to match it against your shipping rules to see which one to select based on an easy to understand priority system. All rules are assigned a number, with 1 being the highest priority rule and the rest descending from 2, 3 and 4 onwards, depending on the number of rules you set up.

Have a look at our blog post to read more about the differences between the new simple shipping rules and the original and what benefits it offers:

This overview will go over the basic functions of viewing, editing and creating shipping rules in Cloud Commerce Pro.

Contents:

1. Admin Centre

From the admin centre in Cloud Commerce Pro, click the "Configuration" button.

2. Configuration Options

From the pop out options menu, click "Shipping" to drill into that section and then click "Rules".

3. Shipping Rules

Here you can find all of your currently configured shipping rules with the highest priority rule at the top and the rest in descending priority below.

  1. New shipping rules can be created by clicking the "Add" button. Shipping rule creation will be covered in more depth in another guide.

  2. You can change the view order using the "View By" drop down.

  3. If you need to find a specific shipping rule, use the search box provided.

  4. You can edit your existing shipping rules by clicking the settings icon. See step 5 and onwards for more info.

  5. You can quickly move a rule to the top or bottom of the priority list by using the direction arrow buttons.

  6. The "Clone" button will make a copy of that particular rule.

  7. The "Delete" button removes the shipping rule from your system.

4. Drag & Drop

To change the priority of a rule simply click and hold it with your mouse and drag it to the desired level.

5. Rule Settings

Clicking the cog icon next to any rule will open the rule settings window. Rule settings are broken down into three tabs: Configuration, Criteria and Usage List.

Keep reading for a breakdown of the functionality that these tabs offer.

6. Configuration Tab

The first tab you will see is "Configuration". This section contains the main data that informs this shipping rule, such as which courier it applies to, the type of service being used, as well as the various costs involved and the types of labels it requires.

7. Criteria Tab

Here you can add specific criteria that customises your shipping rule to specific requirements. Criteria can be added for all manner or things such as weights, dimensions and locations.

For example, if you wanted a shipping rule that only applied to consignments below 4000g, this would be where you set that up.

8. Usage List Tab

The usage list is the final of the three tabs that make up your shipping rule. Here you can control the locations this rule should apply to.

You can select which countries you want to use, either to exclude regions you don't ship to or to make a rule for a specific one. The same can be done for your personal sales channels.

9. Finish & Save

Now that you have everything in place and configured correctly you are ready to click "Save" to confirm your choices and head back to the rule list.

Remember, you can still change the priority of your new rule easily by dragging and dropping it to the position you require.
