CG - EU Customs Changes - July 2026

Written by Matthew Taylor

Important Update: Changes to EU Shipping from 1 July 2026

We are writing to inform you of an important change to how orders shipped from the United Kingdom to European Union countries will be handled, effective 1st July 2026.

What is changing?

The EU is removing the existing duty-free exemption for low-value imports and replacing it with a mandatory customs duty on parcels valued at €150 or less entering the EU. This fixed charge of €3 applies per item type (commodity code) within the parcel, and is separate from VAT and any carrier handling charges.

We will also be required to provide additional information to couriers for EU Customs at the point of shipping:

  • Manufacturer Product ID (MPN, or SKU if available)

  • Standardised Product ID (GTIN, EAN, UPC, ISBN etc.)

  • Duties Paid (Y/N confirmation that the fixed charge mentioned above has been paid)

We will be updating any relevant courier integrations for the November 1st deadline to include the madatory fields mentioned above.

What action do you need to take?

Please ensure that you have up to date SKUs, Commodity Codes, and product identifiers (EAN, UPC, MPN, ISBN, etc.) on your imported Products, so that we can send this data to the relevant couriers when creating labels.

Please also review the relevant government documentation and announcements to ensure that you are fully aware of the changes and new costs incurred when shipping to the EU.
