HS (Harmonised System) commodity codes are 6 digit identification codes used by customs officers to clear any product that crosses an international border. The harmonised system is an international standard, used by over 200 countries worldwide.

This guide will walk you through the process of adding or updating HS codes on your products in bulk and manually using Cloud Commerce Pro.

Contents:

1. Admin Centre

From the admin centre in Cloud Commerce Pro, click "Products".

2. Product Ranges

First we need a product export to work from. If you are already working from an up to date spreadsheet, skip ahead to step 6.

From the product ranges screen, click "Exports".

3. Product Exports

On the product exports screen, click "Export Products" to generate a new export of all of your products.

Your new export will appear at the top of the list once complete.

Hover over the "Actions" button besides your new product export. Click "Download Spreadsheet" and save it to your device.

5. Spreadsheet

Open your spreadsheet and look for the header "VAR_HSCode". Simply input your HS codes for each relevant product and save your spreadsheet as normal.

6. Product range

Head back to Cloud Commerce Pro and the product ranges screen from earlier.

Click "Imports" to continue.

7. Imports

First we need to upload your new spreadsheet to Cloud Commerce Pro so you can use it to push out changes to your products.

Click "Upload Spreadsheet" as shown below to upload the spreadsheet with your new HS codes added.

Once uploaded, your spreadsheet will appear at the top of the list of available items. Put a check in the box below "Use" to signify to Cloud Commerce Pro that you will be using this particular spreadsheet for the import process.

8. Import Step

Scroll down the page until you find "Step 5: Variation Import". Click "Import Variations" for step 5 to begin importing your HS codes into Cloud Commerce Pro.

The status will show complete when the import is done. Any errors will be displayed so you can track them down in the spreadsheet and correct them if necessary.

9. Manually Add HS Codes

You can also add single HS codes to products manually.

Navigate to the product you want to add the HS code to and click the "Edit" button in the HS Code section near the button of the page.

10. Enter HS Code

Type your HS code into the box provided. Potential entries should pop up as you type the code. If not simply press enter on your keyboard to start the search.

Click the correct code to select it.

11. Confirm & Save

Your new HS code will now appear in the Selected Code section. Once you are happy with your selection, click "Confirm" to save it.

12. Apply To Variations

You will be prompted to add the HS code to any other variations in the range. By default the variation you added the code to will be already selected.

Check the box beside any or all relevant variations then click "Save".

13. Apply to Sales Channels

Cloud Commerce Pro will now check which of your sales channels this product range currently are listed on and ask you which you would like to update with the new HS code.

Check the box beside any or all relevant channels then click "Save".

A confirmation box will appear to let you know your new HS code has been saved against the product. Click "OK" to return to the product variation screen.

*It is important to know that without an HS code against the order, the order can fail with a courier so it is important that these are filled out when possible*

If you have any issues when adding HS codes or need to check or look-up a new code, please consult the guide below:
